Dancing all over the place like a bullet gone on parade…

Due to a generous, gigantic, incredible gift from a friend (who is all types of win), this blog will be moving to its own domain!

www.shonamarquez.com

Tag it, keep an eye on it.  I rather like this Quentin theme and I can’t seem to find it for WordPress.org, but we’ll just see about that, won’t we? ;)

See you on the flip side!

Moonstruck girl’s a liar with the stars in her pockets…

(I lied.  It’s not anywhere near the end of August.)

College is one of those adventures that people say will be “exciting, new, and tiring”, as if you’re a warrior prince/princess off on a voyage to do battle in other countries.  Well, consider me armed and ready.  Hello, I’m a freshman at Reed College and I hope this blog captures my and everyone else’s attention for the next four years to come.  I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it afterwards, but we aren’t there yet, so I’m not too worried.

Much like the Earth down to its core, my life is an ever-changing series of events that I find I have to construct something new to adapt to it.  Just like the evolving state of the human race and the developing flora and fauna of our home, my life is eternally under construction.  I am looking forward to moving to Oregon, which is very far away.  If you aren’t quite sure about the map, take a look:

Distance between PR and OR

Distance between PR and OR

In case you were wondering, that’s about 3.7K miles.  Or it would be if it were a straight line.  I fail at straight lines; pretty sure I completely bombed that section in kindergarten.  I could have drawn a line using the “line tool” in Photoshop, but you could barely see it.

Oregon is going to be a completely different atmosphere, something new, different, and most likely cold.  You have no idea how hard it is to find autumn and winter clothing on a tropical island.  I think I’m going to turn into an icicle when I get there.  Well, I leave the 26th for Portland, Oregon and Reed College; Orientation Week [hereto forth known as "O-Week"] starts the 27th.

Eternally Under Construction will consist of stories about my life at Reed, inspirational and philosophical posts that I come up with on the fly, complaints about the work (I am a class-A complainer), and, most importantly, comparisons between living in Portland, Oregon on the college campus of my dreams and 18 years of life on a mountain in the Spanish-speaking tropical island of Puerto Rico.

Coming Soon

Much like a new mall or a good movie, this blog is not yet ready to be shoved out into the WWW.  Take the title literally right now.  Coming soon, near the end of August!
